Mooresville Police Department officers will help 32 children participate in a Christmas shopping spree on Saturday, December 7, at the Target store at 594 River Highway.

During the 4th Annual Heroes & Helpers event, children will shop for much-needed gifts, including clothing, shoes and jackets. The children will begin the day at the MPD with a breakfast with Santa before taking a “sleigh ride” — with Mooresville’s finest providing an escort — to Target for a fun morning of shopping.

Each family represented will also receive a special gift to commemorate the occasion.

“The goal of this event is to bring joy, hope and encouragement to members of our community who really need it and to provide a positive, fun experience between the children and our local police officers,” said event coordinator and MPD Detective Dan Miglin.

Children meeting specified criteria were selected with the assistance of counselors from the Mooresville Graded School District, Mooresville police officers, and other referrals.

Breakfast will be provided by Hickory Tavern.

This event is made possible with the support and assistance of Target, Salvation Army of Iredell County, and several Mooresville businesses and residents.
