Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Derrick Quinn Bost in a news release Wednesday.

ICSO deputies were dispatched to a home at 147 Knoxview Lane for a domestic violence incident on Friday, December 13, Campbell said.

While the deputies were responding to the location, communications personnel advised that the suspect had barricaded himself, along with his family, in a bathroom and would not allow his family members to leave the residence, according to the news release.

When the deputies arrived, they saw a female trying to open the front door to get herself and the children out of the home, but she was pushed away from the door by a male, Campbell said.

After several attempts were made to get someone to answer the door and due to the circumstances, deputies entered the residence, the sheriff said. Deputies then forced their way through two interior doors and arrested Bost without any other further incident, Campbell added.

After Bost was removed from the home, witnesses told the deputies that Bost had assaulted a female and a small child in the residence, according to the news release.

Bost was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with felony second-degree kidnapping, misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor assault on a child under age 12, and misdemeanor resist, obstruct and delay an officer.

Bost was held without bond due to the domestic violence allegations.
