Iredell-Statesville Schools Associate Superintendent Alvera Lesane has resigned her position with the district after accepting a similar post with Durham Public Schools.

Lesane, who oversaw Human Resources for I-SS, worked for the district for more than 20 years. She will begin her new position in Durham in January 2021.

In addition to being a graduate of North Iredell High School, Lesane has served as a teacher, assistant principal and principal for I-SS.

“Dr. Lesane has served our community for many years,” I-SS Superintendent Jeff James said. “Her commitment to Iredell County and the students in I-SS is evident. We appreciate her service and wish her well as she moves to Durham, N.C.”

Durham Public Schools is one of the 10 largest school districts in North Carolina, serving approximately 32,000 students.

I-SS is currently working on a transition plan for January 2021.
