There are now 409 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iredell County.

Local health officials have reported 40 new cases since Wednesday, including 27 new cases on Friday.

The surge in confirmed cases over the past two weeks — the number of cases has nearly doubled during that time span — has coincided with an increase in testing and a change state recommendations for who should be tested.

Among the 409 cases:

♦ 169 people are currently isolating at home;
♦ 6 people are hospitalized;
♦ 228 people are presumed recovered; and
♦ 6 people have died

Geographic Dispersal of COVID-19 Cases in Iredell 

There have been 148 confirmed cases in the county’s south end, 160 in the central region and 101 in northern Iredell.

According to the N.C. Department of Health & Human Services, there have been 41,249 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the state. Some 760 are currently hospitalized, and there have been 1,092 deaths attributed to the coronavirus in North Carolina.
