Iredell County elections officials have mailed out a record number of absentee ballots for the November 3 General Election.

Becky Galliher, director of elections for Iredell County, said more than 10,000 requests for absentee ballots have been received and processed. Elections staff began mailing absentee ballots on September 4.

There are about 127,000 registered voters in the county.

Galliher is encouraging voting by absentee ballot or during the early voting period (October 15-31) at sites in Statesville, Mooresville, Troutman and Harmony.

“That will make the lines a lot less longer on Election Day,” Galliher said.

Absentee Mail-In Ballot Requests

To request an absentee mail-in ballot, submit a completed ABSENTEE REQUEST FORM to the Iredell County Board of Elections Office.

Requests for the November 3 election may be sent in now. Mailed ballots will be issued starting September 4.

The voter, or a near-relative, may make the request. The request must include the voter’s valid NC Drivers License number, or the last four digits of their social security number. The deadline to submit an Absentee By Mail request is Tuesday, October 27.

Note: Military and Overseas voters should request via fvap.gov — these cannot be requested by a near relative.

If you are not registered in the county, you must also include a completed Voter Registration Form. Friday, October 9, is the deadline to register for the November 3, 2020 election. Voter Registration forms can be found HERE

Absentee by Mail requests may be emailed to: bgalliher@co.iredell.nc.us faxed to: 704-832-2312 or mailed to: Iredell County Board of Elections 203 Stockton Street Statesville, NC 28677.

Filled out ballots may be mailed back or hand delivered to the Board of Elections Office. They can also be turned in at the Early Voting sites throughout the county.

NOTICE: If you were sent an unsolicited pre-filled absentee ballot request form with partially printed information (such as your name and address), DO NOT USE IT. Iredell County is aware that a third-party organization has sent out nearly 800 pre-filled forms to Iredell County voters. Please disregard that form. Anyone submitting a third-party pre-filled form will receive a Notice of Invalid Request. North Carolina law does not permit absentee request forms that contain pre-filled information. Voter Registration deadline

Friday, October 9, is the deadline to register to vote for the November 3 General Election. All new registrations must be received by the Board of Elections office by 5 p.m. Voter Registration forms can be found HERE. Forms can be emailed to (bgalliher@co.iredell.nc.us) or mailed to Iredell County Board of Elections 203 Stockton St. Statesville, NC 28677. One Stop (Early Voting) Information

One Stop (Early Voting) for the November 3 General Election will begin on Thursday, October 15, and continue through Saturday, October 31. For further information, please contact the Board of Elections office at 704-878-3140.

Any registered voter in Iredell County is welcome to take advantage of any of the One Stop (Early Voting) sites. There is no voting at the Board of Elections office on Monday, November 2, or Tuesday, November 3.

November 3: Election Day

Tuesday, November 3, is the date for the 2020 General Election. All polling places will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. There is NO voting at the Board of Elections office on Election Day (November 3). Please call the Board of Elections office at 704-878-3140 for further information.
