Special to Iredell Free News

Giving looks a little different this holiday season as charitable organizations adapt to the ongoing pandemic. Like many nonprofits, Iredell County Partnership for Young Children has had to cancel several in-person events, forcing it to focus more on virtual giving opportunities.

In an effort to demonstrate flexibility, innovation, and acceptance to change, ICPYC is hosting three virtual fundraisers. The money raised will help prepare hundreds of children in our community for success in school and in life.

♦ #GivingTuesday is Tuesday, December 1 – Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities. Visit https://www.iredellsmartstart.org/donate-now to make a donation.

♦ 12 Days of Giving Facebook Auction Fundraiser, December 1-12 – Like and follow our Facebook page to see auction packages and bid from the comfort of your own home. Themed packages such as “Christmas in July,” which includes a Maluna 40-gallon cooler, 2 beach towels, and a snowman stained glass ($350 value) will be available.

♦ Dolly Parton’s Facebook live documentary, “The Library That Dolly Built: Celebrating the People Who Made Dolly’s Dream Come True,” airs December 9 at 7 p.m. – This will be Dolly Parton’s first live Facebook exclusive event, including a Q&A as well as a special performance that will be featured on the ICPYC Facebook page.

All funds raised through these virtual events will support our evidence-based programs designed to provide the best possible future for Iredell County’s young children and families. Donations help ensure that our youngest citizens are getting what they need early in life – loving interactions with parents/caregivers, play-filled learning, and books to promote literacy. Supporting children in the early years is a proven investment launching academic and social success and promoting healthier futures.
