Iredell Health System is pleased to announce its first baby born in 2020 at Iredell Memorial Hospital, born at 2:17 a.m. on Thursday, January 2.

Mother Madysen West and her baby boy Silas West are doing well. Silas measured 19 inches long and weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces.

“I’m really excited,” said Madysen, who was also born at Iredell Memorial. “All my nurses were great. It was a wonderful experience. We’re happy to be here.”

The Birth Place at Iredell Memorial is a state-of-the-art maternity facility offering one-on-one nursing and private, welcoming suites. Every mother receives perks through the Pampered Pregnancy program, including discounts at local businesses and a personal pregnancy coach.

“We look forward to celebrating our New Year’s baby every year. It’s wonderful,” said Pam Speight, program nurse at The Birth Place.

Staff and family celebrated the first baby of the year at The Birth Place with a cake and balloons, as well as other gifts. The mother received a basket filled with gifts donated by local businesses. Gifts included:
