Friday was School Lunch Heroes Day in Iredell-Statesville Schools.

West Iredell High School parent Lisa Cash orchestrated the effort to thank the dedicated I-SS employees who have been working tirelessly to make sure that every child in Iredell County who needs food while school are closed receives it.

“It was so much fun putting together a celebration for our 15 school sites that are feeding our children during the pandemic,” Cash shared on Facebook. “They have gone above and beyond all while smiling!”

Each employee received lunch from Speedy Pies, sweet treats from Daylight Donuts, drinks, a gift bag and a thank you card.

Cash expressed her appreciation to the following schools PTO and booster clubs for financially supporting this celebration and for providing volunteers to help make deliveries to all 15 locations on Friday:
