Piedmont HealthCare Mooresville Mammography has resumed breast cancer screenings.

These screening appointments will be scheduled and performed in a safe and effective manner, taking all precautions to protect patients and staff.

The following safety measures have been put in place to ensure patient and staff safety:

♦ Screenings for COVID Symptoms: All patients and team members will receive a temperature screening prior to entering our office. If anyone has a fever or answers yes to screening questions the office will reschedule the patient unless they have already been tested and results were negative.

♦ Clean facilities: We are disinfecting public areas and removing all materials from our waiting areas that cannot be disinfected. Dressing rooms and machine is sanitized after each patient.

♦ Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE): All team members are required to wear appropriate PPE, such as masks and gloves or sanitize hands if not wearing gloves.

♦ Masks for patients: All patients are asked to wear a mask or facial cloth over their face while in the office to reduce the spread of infection.

“It is time to get back to providing these necessary mammography screenings to patients. In some cases, not getting a screening may be an even bigger threat,” said Director of Imaging Tim Thieme.

If you find a lump or change in your breast tissue, please contact your primary care physician. Piedmont HealthCare will schedule a diagnostic exam.

If you missed your exam due to the COVID-19 pandemic or are due for a follow up, now is the time to call and schedule your appointment. It is important to detect breast cancer in early stages when it is most treatable.

Mammography is a specific type of breast imaging that uses low-dose X-rays to detect cancer before women experience symptoms and when it is most treatable. Regular screening mammograms have been shown to markedly reduce the number of women who die from breast cancer. At Piedmont HealthCare Mooresville Mammography, state-of-the-art 3D mammograms are performed in a spa-like environment.
