Special to Iredell Free News

Christmas in July has become a tradition in the Statesville community. Usually held at the Civic Center, the annual fundraiser for Fifth Street Ministries was cancelled last year due to COVID-19 and will be modified this year.

This event helps support the mission to serve those who find themselves homeless and hungry or victims of domestic violence/sexual assault. Fifth Street Ministries is the only provider of these services in Davie, Iredell, Surry, Stokes and Yadkin counties.

Christmas in July will be held on Sunday, July 18, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Fifth Street Ministries campus at 1421 Fifth Street. The organization will host a drive-thru lunch for $10 per plate. Additional donations will be accepted and appreciated. Each pick-up will include a guest story so that community members can learn more about the nonprofit’s mission and the guests it serves. Guests will also be helping the day of the event along with other volunteers.

Auction & Bake Sale

As always, the event will feature an auction and bake sale. This year both will be hosted online. The online auction and bake sale will begin Sunday, July 11, and run through Wednesday, July 21. The auction site is still under construction but the site is:
https://www.biddingowl.com/FifthStreetMinistries.

Some auction items include a Downtown Statesville basket, two weekend passes to Carolina BalloonFest, season tickets to Theatre Statesville, a wine and dine party delivery, flower of the month, and pottery.

Tickets

Tickets can be purchased in advance on the “Events” tab at www.fifthstreetministries.com or purchased the day of the event.

“We are so thankful for the faithful and generous support of this community to help us serve those who are often overlooked and hopeless,” organizers said. “With your help, we certainly provide for tangible needs but we are also able to offer support and hope.”
