Artist DeNeer Davis will lead a community effort to paint a basketball court in Statesville on Saturday morning.

Special to Iredell Free News

Graffiti and mural artist DeNeer Davis will be painting a basketball court mural at Kimbrough Park in Statesville on Saturday, May 21.

Davis is a former college basketball player turned visual artist. After suffering a torn ACL, she suffered depression and found a love for art that pulled her through a difficult time in her life. She uses her talent and thankfulness to help others survive and thrive, providing art and artistic coaching for many nonprofits in the region.

The Iredell Arts Council invites the public to stop by Kimbrough Park Saturday morning to meet the artist and assist in the court painting. The event starts at 10 a.m. It will be a fun activity for the artists (and paint-by-number art dreamers) among us. Kimbrough Park is located at 1833 East Greenbrier Road, Statesville.

This project is a collaboration by the City of Statesville Recreation and Parks Department, Iredell Arts Council, the Statesville NAACP Chapter, Reimprise Fund and the NC Arts Council Grass Roots Programs.
