The Community Bluegrass Jam spring series kicked off last week at the J. Hoyt Hayes Memorial Troutman library after rain and cold temperatures caused a relocation of the event. The free music series features toe-tapping music from some of the area’s most talented local musicians and singers.

About 25 musicians and singers performed classic tunes on Monday night, featuring instruments such as guitars, banjos, fiddle, steel guitar, bass, keyboard, accordion, and autoharp.

Community members are invited to bring along their instruments and play along at future events, raise their voices to sing, or just come listen and enjoy.

The Monday evening series continues on May 2, 9, and 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at ESC Park. The new location provides plenty of room in the grass to spread out and set up chairs or blankets. Troutman Chair is also providing some of its iconic rockers at for the pickers

Attendees are invited to bring a picnic dinner or snacks and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy as they listen.

If the weather forces relocation or cancellation, the Troutman Parks and Recreation Department will update event information on its Facebook page on the day of the event.
