The Iredell County Board of Commissioners will conduct three public hearings during Tuesday’s regular board meeting.

Commissioners will hold the public hearings at 7 p.m. inside the commissioners’ meeting room of Iredell County Government Center, 200 S. Center Street, Statesville.

The first public hearing is for consideration to rezone approximately 2.28 acres at the corner of Hickory Highway and Gilbert Road.

The applicant Kandice Corza is requesting to rezone the property from single-family residential (R-20) to General Business Conditional Districts (GBCD). According to county documents, the Corza’s registered their company JK Corza Landscaping in March of 2010.

Their client base has increased. To accommodate the need for more equipment and additional employees, the applicant/landowner is requesting GBCD for the business portion of their residential property, in order to bring the site into zoning compliance.

The property is in close proximity to existing commercial uses along this section of Hickory Highway. Additionally, the planning board voted 7-0 in support of this request.

The second public hearing is to consider an economic development incentive up to $7.9 million for Sherwin-Williams.

The economic development incentive is based on the company’s investment of up to $324 million in Iredell County and the creation of up to 183 new jobs. The incentive is contingent upon a contract being signed within 180 days.

The last public hearing is to consider a $3.9 economic development incentive for BestCo.

The incentive is based upon the company’s investment of up to $177 million and the creation of up to 399 new jobs in Iredell County. The incentive is contingent upon a contract being signed within 180 days.
