Iredell health officials report three more deaths attributed to COVID-19

Iredell County health officials have reported three more deaths attributed to COVID-19 during the past 48 hours.

With the two latest deaths reported Thursday afternoon, COVID-19 has now claimed 379 lives in Iredell since the onset of the pandemic in March of 2020. Health officials do not release personal information about COVID-19 patients, including those who die.

Ninety individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 are currently being treated for complications at hospitals across the county, down from 100 patients earlier this week.

The Iredell County Health Department reported 422 new laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday — on the heels of 266 new cases on Wednesday.

A total of 41,160 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the county.

According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Iredell County has a seven-day positivity rate of 33.97 percent.

Only 19.8 percent of Iredell County residents are fully vaccinated and have received a booster shot, according to the CDC.

    I would like to know the statistic for what percentage of county residents have had the first two shots, but have not had the booster shot. Early on, many health care professionals indicated that only those 65 and older probably “needed” the booster shot. Others might have had the first two shots but are waiting on an Omicron specific “booster” that should be available in late March or early April. Another issue of course is that many parents of children 17 and under might not think getting their kids the shots is necessary, and presents more risk compared to any perceived benefit. You do have to wonder how Israel, with over 90% of people having had up to FOUR of the shots, is such a hot bed of infection if the shots are so effective.

      They won’t tell us serfs that information. Probably because most folks don’t trust our government anymore. I’d say wise decision. If it doesn’t stop you for getting Covid-19 and doesn’t stop you from spreading Covid, but does have side effects, why would folks get it?
