FROM STAFF REPORTS

Three individuals face charges following an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office investigation prompted by a Department of Social Services report about minors being exposed to illegal narcotics.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Crystal Rose Winstead, 36, Avery Dale Queen, 36, and Nathan James Prentice, 28, in a news release Tuesday. All three suspects live at 131 Twilight Lane in eastern Iredell County.

ICSO received the report from DSS on Thursday, August 25, about drug activity at the Twilight Lane residence. The case was assigned to Special Victims Unit Detective Elliott Lane.

When the investigators arrived at the location, they found the home to be in disarray, according to the news release. While speaking with adults who were present at home, one individual admitted to selling drugs, Campbell said.

Based on the information gathered, the investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence.

During the execution of the search warrant, ICSO personnel found Prentice hiding under the home with a firearm in his possession, Campbell said.

The search also uncovered numerous items of drug paraphernalia related to the use and sale of illegal narcotics inside the residence, according to the news release.

After the search, Winstead was arrested for an outstanding Failure to Appear warrant, and Prentice was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. Both suspects were taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. Magistrate Russell issued a $1,000 unsecured bond for Winstead, and Magistrate Imes issued a $20,000 secured bond to Prentice.

On Friday, August 26, Winstead, Queen and Prentice were charged with an additional felony and misdemeanor charges.
