An eastern Iredell County resident faces four felony charges related to the sexual abuse of a child following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Pedro Aguirre Jr., 28, of Craft Lane, Statesville, in a news release on Tuesday.
The ICSO opened an investigation on November 25 after receiving a report concerning a juvenile being sexually assaulted by an adult male, Campbell said. The case was was assigned to Special Victims Unit Detective C. E. James.
After Aguirre was identified as a suspect, the detective collected evidence and obtained warrants for the suspect’s arrest. On December 5, Aguirre was located and taken into custody by ICSO deputies. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with two counts of felony indecent liberties with a child and two counts of felony statutory sex offense with a child by an adult.
Aguirre is being held under a $500,000 secured bond issued by District Court Judge Hedrick.
