Mr. Benjamin King of 795 Eastside Drive, Statesville, N.C., passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020, at his residence. Benjamin was born in Iredell County on November 13, 1930, and was the son of the late Baxter King and Gurtrude Flippins.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Gracy Hill King; four brothers, Flake King, Charlie King, Marcelles King, and Carl King; and four sisters, Rosie Mull, Dorothy King, Josephine Turner and Catherine King Moore.

He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He worked at Athen’s Furniture, where he built and repaired furniture. Mr. King attended Shiloh Church at an early age. He attended the Iredell County Schools.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, two sons, Vigil King and Marvin King, both of the home; granddaughter, Denise Mixhelle Adams of Statesville; one great grandchild, Nakirah Adams of Statesville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at Rutledge and Bigham on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 12:30 until 1 p.m. Pastor Henry Steele will do the eulogy and burial will follow in the Belmont cemetery.
