James Richard “Rick” Osburn, 60, from Statesville, N.C., passed away Thursday April 2, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after his long battle from a pulmonary infection.

Rick was born on October 17, 1959 in Jacksonville, Fla., to the late Claude and Mary Jane Osburn. He worked in the RV business for most of his life and was especially known for his great customer service and prompt follow up. His quick wit and infectious smile would have all of his customers falling in love with him instantly.

He loved his job almost as much as he loved fishing with the people he cared about. Either out on a boat in the ocean or just lakeside, Rick was the most relaxed on the water. His favorite place to vacation was the Florida Keys, where he dreamed about retiring someday.

Everyone who knew Rick adored him and had a spectacular story to tell about him. He was an amazing man whose huge personality and glistening smile could brighten your day. He just loved to make people laugh. His presence will truly be missed.

Rick is survived by his three daughters, Ashley (Lenny) Custer, April Torrealba (David Carpenter III), and Amy Osburn (Scott Gaisford); his eight grandchildren, Autumn, Aaliyah, Jackson, Alivia, Mckenna, Conor, Oliver, and Thea; his two brothers, Ronnie Osburn and Roger Osburn; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, devoted supporters; the mother of their children, Cathie Tardiff; sister-in-law Kim Haacke Osburn, and best friend, holder of his heart Beth Morang.

Viewing to be held at Bunch Johnson Funeral Home, 705 Davie Avenue in Statesville, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday April 17, 2020. To exhibit caution, only 10 people will be allowed in the Funeral Home at one time.  A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at 1 p.m. Because of restrictions, please reach out if you would like to attend.
