John (J.D.) David Keller, 94, of Hiddenite, N.C., passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. He was born Tuesday, July 14, 1925, in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Anderson Keller and Ida Pennell Keller.

J.D. served in World War II as an MP for the United States Marine Corps. He also was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. He retired from Broyhill Furniture, where he was supervisor over the Finishing Department.

In addition to his parents, J.D. was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Blankenship Keller, and a number of brothers and sisters.

J.D. is survived by his son, John Neal Keller, and wife Sharon Robinson Keller of Hiddenite.

A private Graveside Service will be conducted. Due to the coronavirus, the body will lie in state for a public viewing on Thursday, March 26, 2020, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. There will be no formal visitation.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625, or Mount Nebo Baptist Church, 2600 Old Mountain Road, Hiddenite, NC 28636.
