Ravon Ward Sr., 75, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at his home. He was born on October 6, 1945, in Mingo, W.Va., and was the son of the late Arthur Ward and Lily Sammons Ward.

Ravon was a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was the founder of Cool Springs Church of God in Christ Jesus located in Statesville. Hewas a loving husband, father, and grandfather who gave his life for the work of the ministry and for his family.

On June 12, 1966, Ravon married Barbara Robinette Ward and together they shared 41 years of marriage before her death in 2007. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ravon Ward Jr., two brothers, Alfred and Jim Ward; along with two sisters, Ruby Muncy and Jenny Ward.

Left to cherish the memory of Pastor Ravon Ward Sr. are four sons, Tony Ward (Beth), Randy Ward, Clinton Ward (Gina), and Chad Ward (Keeley); along with four daughters, Sharon W. Ledger, Donna W. Brinager (Jeff), Pamela W. Patino (Carlos) and Marsha W. Queen (Daniel). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Arthur Ward Jr., and six sisters, Nancy Sturgill, Nanny Johnson, Ethel Ward, Myrtle Ward, Ida-Belle Brewer, and Annmarie Collins.

Services honoring the life of Pastor Ravon Ward Sr. will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Cool Springs Church of God in Christ Jesus, located at 543 Cool Springs Road in Statesville, with Rev. Joe Johnson officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
