Richard Lee St. John, 78, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at the Gordon Hospice House following a lengthy illness.

Richard was born March 28, 1941, in Iredell County and was the son of the late Stoy Lee St. John and Irene Eades St. John. He attended Statesville High School and was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. He was retired from Southern Screw Company and later worked as a self-employed Dry Wall Finisher. He loved to fish, car shows, playing with his great grandchildren and his dog.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Tomlin St. John; one daughter, Lisa St. John Hockenberry (David) of Stony Point; two grandchildren, Dara Lynn St. John (James) and Drew Elizabeth Hockenberry; two great grandchildren, Jensyn Madison Munday and James Matthew Munday; one sister, Linda S. Dunn (Bob) of Columbia, S.C.; previous wife, Peggy B. Taylor (Mike); his beloved dog, “Bo,” and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna St. John Perry; one brother, Jerry St. John; and sister-in-law, Brenda St. John.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, January, 23, 2020, at Troutman Funeral Home with Rev. Darren Johnson officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.
