Ruth Ann Alexander Carroll, 83, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, N.C. She was born November 16, 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Carroll Sr.

Ruth, better known as “Nana,” was loved by all and touched every life she knew with kindness. She was an active member of the Mooresville Senior High Booster Club for many years. She loved sports, especially when it came to watching her sons and grandchildren at every event in which they participated. She also loved cheering on the Atlanta Braves. Ruth retired from Fieldcrest Cannon Mills. She was an active member of Peninsula Baptist Church in Mooresville. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Roddy Alexander Ballard and wife, Emily Patterson Ballard, and Ronald Kent Carroll and wife, Rachel Graham Carroll, all of Mooresville; grandchildren, Roddy Ballard Jr. of Maryville, Tenn., Brandon Ballard of Charlotte, and Chance Carroll and Chole Carroll, both of Mooresville.

The family will have a private graveside service to lay her to rest.
