Mrs. Frankie Marie Sloan Moose, 91, of Statesville, N.C., joined her loved ones in heaven on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Frankie was born April 18, 1929, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Rex Orin Sloan and Edna McCurdy Sloan of Olin, N.C. She was a 1948 graduate of Harmony High School. She married the love of her life, the late Clyde Alexander Moose Sr., on September 9, 1950 in a double wedding with her sister Elvalee and her husband Jack. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Kannapolis and recently attended The Cove in Statesville.

Frankie loved everyone and everyone loved her. The oldest of fourteen, she was gifted with many talents and therefore never idle. She enjoyed teaching her loved ones (with the patience of Job) the art of sewing, knitting, crocheting and crafting. She and her sisters spent fun times together selling their creations at craft shows. She even taught ceramics classes and delivered newspapers for The Daily Independent in Kannapolis. She could play the piano by ear and loved singing gospel music with anyone who would join in — her favorites being Victory in Jesus and The Old Rugged Cross.

She was the owner and operator of Frankie’s Beauty Salon in Kannapolis for more than 30 years. Her salon was full service which included picking you up and taking you home when needed. Her generosity and love for others knew no limits. She loved helping people. Always encouraging others to use natural remedies, she was holistic before it was cool. Over the years, her home was open to several nieces, nephews and grandchildren who needed shelter. She liked a full house, just like her mom.

She is survived by one son, Clyde Alexander “Alex” Moose Jr. (Cathy) of Statesville; three granddaughters, Candace Moose, Alexis Moose, and Sharon Cress of Statesville; eight great grandchildren; four brothers, Donald Sloan (Naomi) of Winston-Salem, Dennis Sloan (Carolyn) of Olin, Wayne Sloan of Olin, and Gerald Sloan (Debbie) of Statesville; three sisters, Dorothy Campbell of Statesville, Almedia Baxter (Bill) of Statesville, Judy Upright (Larry) of Olin; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Danny Moose; a granddaughter, Karri Cress; a great-granddaughter, Monica Burrell; three brothers, William “Bill” Sloan, Clay Sloan, and James “Jim” Sloan; and three sisters, Elvalee Templeton, Joyce Madison and Polly Hart.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Mrs. Moose will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Fallstown Baptist Church, 242 State Park Road, Troutman, N.C. Visitation with family and friends will be on Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Troutman Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to ElderCenter, Inc., P.O. Box 1162, Statesville, NC 28687, a non-profit daytime Adult Care Center. Flowers or plants may be sent to Troutman Funeral Home of Troutman, N.C.

Troutman Funeral Home is serving the family.
