Gerald Kenneth Earnest Jr., 61, of Mooresville, N.C., and formerly of Arcadia, Fla., passed away on October 4, 2021. He was born February 28, 1960, in Plant City, Fla., to Gerald Earnest Sr. and Shirley Earnest.

Jerry was blessed with an ingenious technical mind, having spent his professional life in construction, founding Earnest Construction Management, which specialized in concrete. He was also a gifted gardener and avid boater on Lake Norman. Most important to him was his family, and he will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kelley Louise Earnest; and his sons, Jarrett Kenneth Earnest of New York, N.Y., and Marshal Dylan Earnest of Charlotte, N.C.; and his stepson, Richard Reese Harvin and grandson Rylan Reese Harvin of Arcadia, Fla.

A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, Mooresville, N.C.
