James Williams, 71, of 316 Medlin Street, Statesville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Alexandria, Va., on February 5, 1950, and was the son of the late Sarah Ann Williams. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Turner Jr. and Edward Turner; and a sister, Robin Renee Williams.

He served with the United States Army and was honorably discharge. His Decorations, Medals, Badges, Citations, and Campaign Ribbons awarded or authorized include Marksman, M-16 Rifle, Expert, Hand Grenade, Sharpshooter, .45 Caliber Pistol, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life two brothers, Pastor Michael Turner and Kevin (Nikki McQueen) Turner, both of Statesville; two sisters, Patricia Ann Williams and Sarah Edmons, both of Warren, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 3:30 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Bishop Jamie Mack will officiate and burial will follow in the National Cemetery in Salisbury on October 21, 2021, with full military rites.

Members of the family will receive friends from 3 until 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home, but will assemble at the residence of his brother, Pastor Michael Turner, 1315 Fourth Street, Statesville, N.C., at other times.
