John Harry Bennett, 81, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville. He was born in Manhatten, N.Y., to the late Alice and Harry Bennett.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his siblings, Richard, Denise and Kenneth.

After graduating from high school, John joined the Navy, proudly serving his country on the USS Hymen. He was a Police Officer for Suffolk County before his retirement. John was a former President of the Blue Knight Motorcycle Club, which increased his love of motorcycles and traveling the USA and abroad. Later in life, Parkinson’s disease prevented him from doing many activities he loved. Family and friends were very important to John. He continued to be an avid fan of the Steelers, all baseball and especially little league. His sense of humor was still present during the last days of his life.

John is survived by his children, Suzanne, Joseph and James; grandchildren, Breanna, Peyton, Conner, Kaitlyn and Dylan; sister, Nannette; and his furry friend, his cat, Princess.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 16, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
