Katherine Shirley Flowers Martin, 83, formerly of Statesville, N.C., passed away at the home of her daughter in Las Vegas, Nev., on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 surrounded by family.
“Shirley,” as she was affectionately called, was born April 22, 1938, to the late William C. Flowers and Carrie R. Flowers. She was preceded in death by ten brothers and four sisters. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons.
She retired from Thorlo Hosiery Mill. She was a lifetime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Catawba, N.C., and also member of Bethel Congregational Church in Statesville, N.C. She was a member of the 55 and Alive Senior Club. She loved baking cakes and doing word search puzzles in her spare time. She was an avid North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball fan.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are Randy Flowers (Everlena) of Lebanon, Ohio; Richard Martin of Tampa, Fla., Wayne Martin of Statesville, Todd Martin (Natasha) of Seattle, Wash.; and Tuesday Martin (Kyle) of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time. Graveside service will be announced at a later date.

So sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing what a sweet lady. I and my mom and dad enjoyed her being our neighbor at 1016 S.Meeting Street. She always said my dad was her boyfriend ? We thought a lot of her and I am thinking of you and your loss. She is definitely in heaven above.
