Ms. Lakeya Montice Morrison, 38, of Raleigh Avenue, Statesville, N.C., passed away at her home on Sunday, May 23, 2021. She was born in Iredell County on November 29, 1982, and was the daughter of the late Omar Morrison Jr. and Teresa Gail Smith Harper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Josephine and Omar Morrison and Richard and Arzena Hill Smith; aunts and uncles, Anthony Harper, Lisa Redmon, Rita Lockhardt, Anna Morrison, Nevanna M. Waddell, Lula M. Watts, Lelia M. Tatum, Connie M. Morrison, Margie M. Pegram, Clorine Morrison, Rosa Sherrill, Boyd, Robert, Omar, Roscoe, Clyde Morrison, Marine Morrison, Deneen Smith, Ayllvia Jones, Allen Smith, Junnie Mae McGee, Ethel Roseboro, Robert Smith, Babe Reeves, Norman Hill, Jimmy Carpenter, Cleo Charles, Christine Black and Evelyn “Ebby” Logan; and a cousin, Michael “Packy” Reeves.

She was a graduate of West Iredell High School and attended Miracle Tabernacle. A loving mother, daughter and friend, “Kitten,” as she was affectionately known, will certainly be missed.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life her daughter, Alexis Morrison of the home; a godson, Chandon Smith of Statesville; her step-father, Pastor Lonnie Harper of Statesville; her brothers, Jamel S. Morrison (Crystal Marrow) of Catawba and Lonnie Harper Jr. (Evangelist Dana Jackson) of Statesville; her nieces and nephews, Sakarri Morrison, Cloey Harper,, Keyshon Morrison, Laudis Dulin, Kelsey Morrison and Antiniqua Smith; a host of special cousins, including her sister-cousins, Quanda Sharpe, Rovonda Beatty, Tamika Smith, Rosetta Watts, Tara Rivers, Barbara Morrison, Kristen Morrison, Assistant Pastor Penny (Bishop AlJamel) Stephens, Margie “Dootie” Lackey, Tammy Minor, Chris Reeves, Steeve Reeves, Tood Smith and Jerry Smith; a host of aunts and uncles, Kenneth (Carolyn) Morrison, Jo Carol Morrison, Mary (Stan) Treece, Anthony Moore, Kenny Smith, Ray Bernard (Pastor Neanna) Smith, Wayne (Kimberly) Smith, Leslie (Robert) Sherrill, Latanya (Corry) Dye, Erica (Tyon) Stevens, Pastor Tammy (Bishop Martin) Wilson, Tonya Tate, James “Moose” Henry and William “Smily” Carpenter; a friend, David Redmon; other cousins, relatives, classmates, church family and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Sunday, May 30, 2021, at 1 p.m. (Location to be announced.) Pastor Lonnie Harper will officiate and burial will follow in the Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Members of the family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
