Louise Ledbetter Mitchell, 90, of Troutman, N.C., passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Mitchell was born August 8, 1930, in Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Coy and Lona Cockerham Ledbetter.

She attended schools in Wilkes County and on December 20, 1952, she married Harold James Mitchell, who survives. She worked for Troutman Industries for 40-plus years and later worked at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church since 1945, where she was a member of the Mary Jones Circle and made 973 prayer shawls for the church. She loved her family, her church, making strawberry cakes and the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mitchell is survived by two daughters, Ann M. Alley (Dennis) of Troutman and Pam M. Smith (Rudy) of Olin; one son, Tony Mitchell (Susan) of Statesville; eight grandchildren, Sunshine Miller, Carrie Phifer, Crystal Tomblin, Melissa Stewart, Lindsey Mitchell, Joshua Smith, Kayla Campbell, and Patrick Smith; eight great grandchildren, Taylor Phifer, Austin Phifer, Grant Miller, Allie Miller, Jaken Campbell, Rayland Tomblin, Hayden Tomblin, and Colton Stewart; and two great great grandchildren, Ava Phifer and Brady Phifer.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and one grandson, Matthew James Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Rocky Mount Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the service. The family asks that dress in Atlanta Braves attire or colors.
