Lounette “Corky” Luckadoo Matthews, 92, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, just eight days after her husband Donald. She was born on June 11, 1928, in Chase City, Va., to the late William and Vera Smiley Luckadoo.

Lounette and Don lived in the Mooresville area for over 60 years and loved living at the lake and the time they shared with family and friends. For the last 20 years, she pursued her passion for painting with watercolors. Mrs. Matthews enjoyed attending the art class with her friends at the Charles Mack Citizen Center. She was an avid gardener. Mrs. Matthews was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville.

In addition to her parents and husband Donald, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Luckadoo Jr., and sister, Elma Philbeck.

She is survived by her son, Donald Kevin Matthews (Kay Chauncey); granddaughter, Kayla Moore (Joe); and great granddaughters, Isabella and Lillian.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 9, from 2 to 3 p.m. with a memorial service for Lounette and Donald following at 3 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel.
