Sylvia Jean Benfield, 74, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on January 2, 2021. She was the daughter of Hubert “Hub” and Mary Pope Benfield.

She attended King College, where she earned her medical secretarial degree. Before retirement, she was employed by Engineered Sintered Components. Sylvia was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her deep love for her family. Known as “Sib” to those who love her, her many nephews and nieces will always hold fond memories of their time spent together. She especially enjoyed catching up with her neighbors and her beloved dog, Bella.

Sylvia is survived by her brother, Boyd Benfield (Nancy); sister, Nancy Templeton (Jay); sister-in-law, Barbara Benfield; nephews, Stanley Templeton (Tamara), and Steve Templeton (Christie); great nieces Lauren Jackson (Nick), Katie and Abby Benfield; and great nephews, Dustin Templeton (Kaitlyn), and Cole Templeton. She also leaves behind several great-great nephews and nieces.

Sylvia was proceeded in death by her parents; a brother, Charlie “Chick” Benfield; one sister, Margie Pope; and a niece, Melynn Roberts.

Sib will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Please join us to celebrate her life on Saturday January 9, 2021, at 2 p.m. at a graveside service held at Bethel United Methodist Church in Statesville.

The family requests all who attend wear a mask and practice social distancing.
