Retired LCDR Wilbur Jefferson “Jeff” Davis, 92, of Mooresville, N.C., went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 21, 2021, after struggling with a brief illness. He passed away at home with his family by his side.

He was born on April 30, 1928, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Clinton C. and Emma May Davis. Jeff proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 30 years. He was a devoted member of Central United Methodist Church of Mooresville. He was a Mason with the Great Bridge Masonic Lodge #257 in Chesapeake, Va., and he faithfully supported countless charitable organizations.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Sally Smith Davis; daughters, Susan Midgette, Sandy Lane (Frank), and Cheryl Seeley (Fred); 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

His legacy is one of helping anyone who needed help. He loved openly, and he will be greatly missed. Until we meet again, goodbye for now … Jeff, Daddy, and Poppy.
