Lynn Wade Sloan, 74, of Statesville, N.C., passed February 2, 2022, after an extended illness at Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Iredell County on March 21, 1947, to the late Webb Newland Sloan and Ida Lee Goodin Sloan.

Lynn was in the U.S. Army and served two tours in the Vietnam War. After returning home, he worked for Hunt manufacturing. Lynn was a member and a Sunday School Teacher at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. He also enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Newland Sloan.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Brenda Kay Hope Sloan of the home; two sons, Chris Sloan and wife Paula, and Randy Sloan and wife Melissa, both of Statesville; one brother, Wayne Sloan, and wife Betty, and one sister, Hilda Johnson, both of Statesville; and three grandchildren, Victoria Sloan, Austin Sloan, and Zackary Sloan.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Eades officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. Burial will follow with full Military Rites at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville.
