Richard Knight Nesbitt, 88, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at The Citadel at Mooresville.
He was born on January 12, 1934, in Chittenango, N.Y., to the late Robert and Ruth Kneeskern Nesbitt. Mr. Nesbitt was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Mooresville. Mr. Nesbitt enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved woodworking, being outdoors, and playing card games with his friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sherlyn Towsend Nesbitt.
He is survived by his children, Richard Nesbitt and wife Leslie of Glendale, Ariz., Douglas Nesbitt and wife Lisa of Mooresville, and Cherry Ann Roeper and husband Gil of Peoria, Ariz.; brothers, Larry Nesbitt, James Nesbitt, and Michael Nesbitt; sisters, Mildred Sitnik and Mary Lou Flenner; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will have a celebration of life in the Spring of 2023.

My condolences to Dick’s family for their loss. I knew Dick when he lived in Bridgeport and we attended the Methodist church. I remember times when we did BBQ chicken. He was always a good friend to talk and joke with. Mary Lou, this is DeVerne Breed.
