Robert Bruce Wiest, 62, of Statesville, N.C., died Friday, January 13, 2023, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in the arms of his loving wife of 20 years, Judy Wood Wiest, after a short but courageous fight with cancer.

He was born in Greensboro, N.C., to the late Clayton Clarke Wiest Jr. and Eloise Dobson Wiest.

Bruce was a sales representative for U.S. Lumber. He loved hiking, birds, and woodworking. He enjoyed Disney trips, Legos, and rock collecting. Bruce was an active member of Northview Church of Christ, where he recently served as the Carpenter Hands minister. He loved the Lord and his church family. Bruce loved people and he loved life. He was a natural jokester and brought joy and laughter wherever he went.

Those left to cherish his memory include sons, Andy Smith (Lisa) and Bryan Smith (Anne); grandchildren, Alice Smith, Henry Smith, Holly Griffin, Haley Griffin, and Hannah Griffin; a brother, Clayton Clarke Wiest III (Jill); a sister, Terri Garland (Kim); and nephew Kevin; and his fur babies, Salem and Carnie.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Northview Church of Christ with Pastor Cody Poinsett and Les Bonnett officiating. The family will greet family and friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to Northview Church of Christ, 2615 Amity Hill Road, Statesville, NC 28677.
