Karl Baklarz, 71, of Mooresville, N.C., and formerly of the Bronx, New York City, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, after a short stay at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House, with his brother and sister-in-law by his side.

He was born on November 22, 1954, in Jersey City, N.J., son of Leo and Stephanie Baklarz. Karl was a faithful member of The Unification Church and worked all over Iredell and Mecklenburg counties as an electrician, most notably in the hospitals.

Karl was known among his co-workers and friends as “Yank.” He was an avid baseball fan with his favorite team being the New York Yankees.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Hisae and his brother, Thomas.

He is survived by his brother, Gordon Baklarz (Michelle) of Statesville, N.C.; sister, Phyllis Cotten of Homosassa, Fla.; sister-in-law, Rosemarie Baklarz (Thomas) of Raleigh, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville, with Pastor Bob Honeycutt from The Unification Church in Raleigh officiating. A Celebration of Karl’s life will be following the service at his brother’s home.

The family would like to thank all the physicians, nurses and staff with Hospice of Iredell County for their kindness, compassion, and supportive care during Karl’s stay at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House.
