I am incredibly pleased to share the results of the 2026 North Carolina Teacher Working Conditions Survey. The results for the Mooresville Graded School District are a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and heart that our educators pour into our schools every single day.

In Mooresville, we strive to create an environment where teachers feel valued and supported, and the data suggests we are succeeding. While the state average for teachers agreeing that their school is a “good place to work and learn” is strong as a whole at 93%, MGSD reached an outstanding 98%.

Furthermore, 97% of our staff report they are proud to work in their schools, compared to 91% statewide.

Our commitment to excellence in the workplace is reflected across several key areas:

Trust and Leadership: 95% of our staff believe there is an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect in our schools.
Safety and Preparedness: Our focus on security is clear, with 99% of teachers stating they know exactly what to do in the event of an emergency.
Professional Growth: We believe in investing in our people. 89% of our teachers feel their professional development is differentiated to meet their individual needs, far exceeding the state average of 68%.
Empowering Students: Our teachers are leaders; 97% of them agree that they empower their students to succeed.

While we celebrate these exceptional results, we also recognize the challenges highlighted in the survey, such as the continued need to address student conduct and minimize routine paperwork. We view this feedback as an important roadmap for continued improvement.

I want to publicly thank our teachers, administrators, and staff for making MGSD a place where 93.03% of employees feel a deep sense of loyalty to our schools. It is an honor to lead a district where the environment is so welcoming and focused on student success. When our staff feel valued and happy, that translates to our students. Our motto, “We are MOORESVILLE,” is reflected in these results and what we do for our students every day.

Jason Gardner, Ed.D., is the superintendent of the Mooresville Graded School District.
