Linda Lambert Freeze, 84, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. She was born on April 10, 1941, in Mooresville to the late James Franklin Lambert and Hazeleen Bumgarner Lambert.
Linda grew up on Presley Street, below the ballpark. She would walk with her mom to Southside Baptist Church. Linda was saved in Bible School at the age of 10 and baptized at First Baptist Church as Southside didn’t have a baptismal pool.
Linda met Ronnie when she was 14 and he was 15 at the Teenage Club at the War Memorial. They would meet at the movie downtown, where her dad would drop her off and pick her up. Ronnie also would walk her home from school. He lived on Stewart Avenue above town and would usually hitchhike back home. They dated through high school and then she went to King’s Business College in Charlotte for a year and then they married at Southside Baptist Church on July 2, 1960, with Dr. B.A. Bowers performing the ceremony. He was the interim pastor between Paul Brock and P.C. Gant. She was 19 and Ronnie was 20 when they married. Her mom and dad were 19 and 20 when they were married but were married 20 years apart.
They first rented a four-room house on North Sherrill Street beside Bobby and Sylvia Liner (Asbury) and carpooled to Charlotte to State Farm Insurance Company, Claims Department. They bought their first house in 1966 in Huntersville just before Michelle was born. (Ryan and Nicole were also born while living there.) They moved to Mooresville in 1979. Ronnie’s mother had just passed away and her house was empty, and they lived there for three years while Ronnie built their house on Tommy’s Lane.
Linda also worked for Redden Chiropractic, Gift-in-Kind Clearing House, Ingersol Rand and Lake Norman Hospital in the Medical Transcription Department, which led to her being able to do medical transcription from home, retiring at age 66. She began interpreting for the deaf in January of 1973 and working with GA’s in 1984.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronnie Alexander Freeze, and granddaughter, Kayla Creech.
Those left to cherish Linda’s memory are her children, Michelle Freeze, Ryan Freeze (Brenda), and Nicole Freeze Whitehead (Jon); grandchildren, Madison and Lindsy Whitehead, Ashley Holt, and Arron Creech; and great grandchildren, Daniel Holt, Peyton Holt, Alex Holt and Kayleb Holt.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Southside Baptist Church, Mooresville, with Rev. David Klinedinst and Chaplain Eddie Karriker officiating. Burial will follow the service at Willow Valley Cemetery, Mooresville.
