Henry Paul “Bob” Davidson, 93, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Born in Iredell County on July 19, 1931, Bob was the son of the late Roy Melmouth Davidson and Berta Candace Roseman Davidson. A proud graduate of Celeste High School, he was a lifelong member of First ARP Church, where his faith and fellowship were a meaningful part of his life.
Bob was a true people person, known for his warmth, humor, and deep love for his family and friends. He enjoyed simple pleasures like playing horseshoes and Rook, and he found great joy in the company of those he loved. His loved ones will fondly remember his favorite phrase, “By golly, so it is,” a reflection of his cheerful and down-to-earth spirit.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen Deal Davidson; his son, Tim Davidson; his siblings, Joseph “Aus” Davidson, Roy “Pete” Davidson, Max Davidson, James “Jim” Davidson, Rosemond “Rosie” Davidson, Carolyn Davidson, Mildred Davidson Campbell, and Dottie LaClair; son-in-law, Chris Davidson; grandchildren, Joey Brewer and Erin Davidson; his second wife, Chloe Handy Davidson; and stepdaughter, Donna Owens.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Sandy Davidson; son, Gary Davidson (wife Elizabeth); daughter, Robin Davidson Brewer (Tony); grandchildren, Andrea Price (Ben), Eric Davidson (Michelle), Kolten Davidson, and Lauren Davidson Raker (Bill); and great-grandchildren, Anna Davidson, Willow Price, Braylen Shoemaker, and Will Raker. Bob is also survived by his sister, Wanda Davidson Isenhour; brother, Frank Davidson (Sue); and a host of stepchildren, Frances Mitchell (Wilson), Ronnie Brown (Jane), Diane Souther (Isaac), James Brown (Angie), Talmadge Brown, Ricky Brown (Faith), Roger Brown, and Richard Matheson II (Angie).
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Tina Phillips and Jean Redmond for their devoted care and support over the past few years.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at First ARP Church in Statesville with Rev. Ryan Gladden officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Bride Deaton Parlor at First ARP Church.

My thoughts and prayers are with all the family at the passing of Bob. He was a fun loving person and always said “ by golly.” I met Bob in the late 60s. I always took my kids by on Halloween. My children are Tony and Randy Moose. Bob and his fun-loving spirit will be truly be missed.
