Rebecca Ann Kinnard, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025.
A native of Illinois, Rebecca was born to Vern McCann and Margaret Hoppe. Her stepfather, Ted Hoppe, was also a meaningful part of her life. Though born in Illinois, she spent 30 treasured years in West Virginia, where she lived on a farm she deeply loved — tending her garden, caring for animals, and finding joy in the peace of rural life. For the past 12 years, she made her home in North Carolina, close to all of her children, where her warmth and presence continued to be a blessing.
Rebecca was the devoted wife of the late Don Kinnard. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and faith. She is survived by her four children, Larry Stamm (wife Laurene), Wade Stamm (wife Karen), Alandra Warner (husband John), and Ryan Stamm (Aimee). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to David, Taylor, Matthew, Kelsey, John, Jarrod, Maggie, Amayya, and Molly; and great-grandmother to little Enola.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Rebecca was a devoted member of Rocky Mount Methodist Church and an avid student of biblical scripture. Her well-worn Bible was never far from reach, and she lived out its message through humility, grace, and compassion.
She gave generously of her time, volunteering with the American Cancer Society, the Putnam County War Memorial, and visiting veterans in hospitals. She was also a dedicated member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Rebecca found joy in the simple and beautiful parts of life. She was a passionate gardener with a special love for flowers and spent countless peaceful hours tending to her land. She also cared for a variety of animals, including cows, horses, donkeys, dogs, and any creature in need of love. Her cooking was legendary within her family, and her home was always filled with the scent of warm meals and the sounds of laughter and love.
Her legacy is one of faith, love, and gentle strength. Rebecca will be deeply missed by her family, her church, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, at Rocky Mount Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Langner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be may to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 https://www.stjude.org/
