The Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education, Superintendent Jeff James, administrators and principals celebrated the service of 75 retirees recently during the 2024-2025 I-SS Retirement Celebration held at the South Iredell High School Performing Arts Center.
The retirees and their guests were welcomed into the event by the Human Resources Department and district staff members.
The South Iredell High School Orchestra performed an array of songs as employees from around the district socialized. The event began with a welcome from Jill Parker, executive director of Human Resources, and greetings from Lizzie Barber from the Iredell-Statesville Retirees Association.
The superintendent acknowledged the importance of the work done by the retirees.
“Education is the most important thing we can give our children,” James said. “I want to thank you for all you have done to make Iredell County a great place to work, live, and raise a family.”
The retirees and their guests enjoyed a meal and watched a video of congratulatory messages from around the district. As the name of each retiree was called, the audience cheered and applauded for them as they walked across the stage, received a small gift, and shook hands with the superintendent and three members of the I-SS school board.
These retirees accumulated a total of 1,884 years of experience. Their absence will truly be felt in the district, officials stated.
