John Herbert Spitzer passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C. He was born on August 22, 1935, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Michael J. and Loretta R. Spitzer.

John retired from National Fuel Gas in Buffalo, N.Y., with over 39 years of service. He was a faithful member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville.

John enjoyed many years of camping, boating, golfing, fishing and shooting pool. He belonged to the Central Lake Norman Golden Boy men’s group and to the Catawba men’s group.

John is survived by his wife, Peggy Campbell Spitzer; daughter, Kathy Spitzer-Tremblay (Steve); son, John Spitzer (Regina); daughter, Jennifer Dill (Thomas); grandchildren; and nieces and a nephew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Joseph; and brothers, William, Robert (Violet), and Michael (Marie).

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, at St. Therese Catholic Church in the St. Ignatius Day Chapel, 217 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, NC 28117. A reception will follow at the church.
