Marsha Kay Strayer, 83, of Mooresville, N.C., died peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville.

Marsha was born on June 24, 1941, to the late Orien Jack Carpenter and Minta Pearl Carpenter in Edgerton Indiana. Marsha’s greatest passion was her daughter, Melanie, and her granddaughter, Courtney Patton, and her love of animals, especially dogs. No matter what the day would bring, she always found joy in them.

Marsha is survived by her four children, Michelle (Vic) Hribar, Mark Strayer, Brian Strayer and Melanie (Steve) Strayer-Schaffer. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John; three brothers, Loren Ray Carpenter, Stan Carpenter and Neil Carpenter; and her two sisters, Betty Jean Miller and Patsy Marilla Carpenter.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County and to the S. Mitchell Mack House in Mooresville.

A private service will be held in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
