Wesley ONeal Summers, 52, of Statesville, N.C., was born in Iredell County, on January 20, 1973, to the late David Wayne and Mildred Sturgeon Sims. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 14, 2024, at his residence. In addition to his father, David Summers, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Connor, John Connor, and Kenny Holmes; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Speller; an uncle, Daniel Summers.

Neal was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School, Class of 1991. He was a diehard Cowboys fan, and he loved to fish with his brother.

He leaves to cherish the memories of his life his wife, Cynthia Nixon Summers of the home; his mother, Mildred (William) Sims; eight children, Corey Whittenburg, Craven Summers, Jasmine Summers, Kimara Sharpe, Brittney Franklin, Brandon Stewart, Brian Stewart, and Bre’Era Byrd; seven siblings, Diane Summers, David (Sheril) Summers, Natasha (Tony) Glover, Nicole (Chan) Mattox, Lorie Connor, Todd (Erica) Connor, and Linda Connor; a host of grandchildren; one uncle, Glenn Avery; aunts, Christine (George) Johnson and Hazel Summers; special aunts, Vivian Argo, and Annie (David) Smith; a special cousin who helped him through his illness, Tracey Smith; a special friend, Frank Smyre; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to send a special “thank you” to Atrium- Wake Forest, 8th floor, Cancer Unit, Dr. Li; Hospice & Pallitive Care of Iredell County; and Iredell Home Health Nurses.
