A Massachusetts man faces gun and drug charges after being stopped on Interstate 77 by an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Jerome Victor Delact, 23, of Brockton, Mass., in a news release on Tuesday.
Delact was traveling north on I-77 on May 15 when he was stopped by a deputy near mile marker 63 in northern Iredell County, the sheriff said.
During the stop, Deputy M.B. Talbert and his canine partner Groot were called to the scene to assist, according to the news release. Canine Groot gave a positive alert on the vehicle, prompting a search that resulted in the seizure of more than two pounds of marijuana and four firearms, Campbell said.
Further investigation revealed that one of the firearms had been reported stolen in Greer, S.C., the sheriff added.
Delact was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. He was charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, felony maintaining a vehicle for the sale of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Magistrate Thompson issued a $100,000.00 secured bond on these charges.
