Latoya Lynette Smith, 37, was born in Iredell County on May 2, 1988, to the late James Lee Smith and Martha McClelland Jones. She departed this life on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at her residence.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert Smith and Bertha Smith; and her maternal grandparents, Porter McClelland and Gertrude Lyons.
Latoya was a graduate of Statesville High School, Class of 2006. She worked as a CNA in Home Health Care and was also a nail technician and makeup artist. Latoya loved playing volleyball.
She leaves to cherish the memories of her life two sons, Chance Holland and Tru Holland, both of Statesville; two daughters, London Paige and Maddlyn Braskett, both of Statesville; three sisters: Rosiland McClelland of Zebulon, N.C., and Stacy Pitchford (Christopher) and Candace Jones, both of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three uncles, Jimmy Smith (Terry), Keith Smith (Jennifer), and Vincent Smith (Marie); three aunts, Georgia Boller; Gloria Jackson (Bishop James C. Jackson Sr.), and Melanie Robinson (BJ); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m.
