Iredell County Emergency Medical Services has earned the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline EMS Gold Achievement Award for its proven commitment to providing rapid, research-based care to individuals experiencing severe heart attacks and strokes.
This national recognition highlights the department’s excellence in prehospital emergency response — a critical link in improving patient outcomes and saving lives.
Iredell County EMS staff are trained to begin life-saving treatment upon arrival, often up to an hour sooner than if the patient had gone to the hospital by private vehicle. Their ability to deliver early resuscitation efforts and facilitate faster in-hospital care reflects strong coordination across the emergency response system.
“This award is a direct reflection of the dedication, training, and professionalism of our EMS staff,” said Iredell County EMS Director Eric Morrison. “We’re proud to serve our community with high-quality emergency care and proud to be recognized for the impact our work makes when seconds truly matter.”
The Mission: Lifeline EMS program helps emergency responders and hospitals improve care for patients with high-risk, time-sensitive conditions by streamlining treatment — from the moment 911 is called through hospital arrival and recovery. The American Heart Association’s national recognition underscores the vital role EMS providers play in these critical moments.
Iredell County EMS has received this award every year since 2018.
