Bonnie Gail Getgood, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on June 6, 2025, in Statesville, N.C., at the age of 65. Born on January 8, 1960, in Lumberton, N.C., she was known for her warm spirit, kind heart and an unshakeable love of animals.

Bonnie was the much-loved daughter of the late Donald and Marion Getgood. Those left to cherish and honor her memory include her son, Derek Woodard and wife Nicole; son Ryan Getgood and fiancée Amber Chester; grandchildren William and Jameson Woodard, and Kinsley Getgood; sisters Carol Tevepaugh and husband Terry, Donna Byrd and husband Tony; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Bonnie especially enjoyed the simple pleasures, such as sitting by the ocean, listening to music or just having a warm cup of coffee. Family members fondly recall the joy Bonnie would receive from riding her pony as a child. Throughout life, Bonnie always kept a loving dog or cat by her side further proof of her gentle nature and lifelong love for animals.

Bonnie’s life was a testament to the love she shared with her family and friends. She found immense joy and fulfillment in her greatest achievement – her grandchildren, who brought endless smiles to her days. Her family was her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A private celebration of life service will be held by the family.
