Special to IFN

The Statesville Woman’s Club recently presented a portion of the proceeds from its Annual Geranium Sale to Food For Days.

Food For Days was started 12 years ago in Mooresville. The backpack ministry helps hungry students in Iredell County who are identified by school counselors and teachers. A permission slip is sent home and after signed, the student will receive a generic backpack on Friday. Those backpacks contain six weekend meals (two breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners) as well as drinks and snacks. During the 2024-2025 school year, Food For Days provided backpacks for 428 students in 19 schools across Iredell County.
