Mary Lee Pennell Campbell, 75, of Stony Point, N.C., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. Born on October 21, 1949 in Caldwell County, N.C., she was daughter to the late Buford Pennell and Mary Wilson.
Mary Lee found great joy working alongside her husband as the secretary for their family business, Finishing Systems of Statesville. A woman of deep Christian faith, she was a faithful member of Smith Chapel Church in Union Grove, where her spirit and kindness touched many. Mary Lee loved the simple pleasures in life—especially trips to the beach, where she could relax and enjoy the beauty of the ocean. She also took pride in riding her own Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Above all, she found true happiness in the love of being together and making memories with her family by the pool and holidays.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 33 years, Charles “Chuck” Philip Campbell Sr.; daughters, Paula Hargus and Cecilia (Max) Peterkin; step-sons, Charles Philip Campbell Jr. and David Allen Campbell; brother, Buford (Roxanne) Pennell; sisters, Sue Campbell, Janice Ann (Donnie) Austin, and Jennifer (Jim) Nichols, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Marvin Methodist Church, 671 Marvin Church Court, Stony Point, NC 28678. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. at Marvin Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Thomas, Pastor Buford Pennell, and Pastor Jerry Rogers officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
